Question 1
1
We invite you to submit a recipe, essay, song or poem as part of the Sisterhood Cookbook project led by WANDA: Women Advancing Nutrition Dietetics and Agriculture. Together we will co-create a community-led cookbook with about 100 recipes honoring the rich culinary legacy of women in the District of Columbia, especially in Ward 7 and 8. We welcome you to share your food memoirs, family traditions, and remixed recipes celebrating a return to our roots, restoration of our health, and reclamation of our communities and voice. This cookbook project will be published digitally and in print in 2021.
This project is coordinated by WANDA, a 501c3 nonprofit organization in Washington, D.C with a mission to provide a pipeline and platform for women and girls of African descent to lead from farm to health in Africa and the Diaspora. This project is made possible through the support of D.C. Health Care Finance and Sibley Memorial Hospital in support of the WANDA Academy, a safe supportive sisterhood of self-care and service, promoting cooking for the culture. Bring your Black Girl Magic to the sisterhood and be creative. You have the option to submit a remixed or traditional cultural recipe, art, or essay to the cookbook project. Do you give permission to publish your submission?
